The first camera I ever brought underwater was a 3MP Olympus C-3040Z in 2002, mostly because Light and Motion made a housing for it. Over the next couple of years, I upgraded to the C-4100Z, then to a C-5050Z before making the leap to a Nikon D100 DSLR in 2004.
I recently came across some of my older work from that time period. The current crop of cameras is capable of so much better quality, but I remember how delighted I was with these early photos, most of which I probably couldn’t duplicate now if I tried. I guess that’s how it is with most art. Each piece of work really only happens once, regardless of the equipment.
Enjoy the look back with me.
